I’ve never really been one for New Year resolutions but this year is different. This year I do have a couple of things I want to change/do.
I mentioned in a previous post (read it here – Be More Like Vera) that I am going to make our home more eco with some sustainable swaps, for example using a laundry egg (which lasts a year) for all of our washing, instead of buying detergent and fabric softener, weekly, thereby significantly reducing our plastic wastage with just one small change.
There will be other sustainable swaps, all of which I hope will not only reduce our plastic waste and exposure to chemicals but also save money too.
Eco priorities aside, my next ‘resolution’ is to give Dollydaydreams Diary the time it deserves. I need to think of it like a hobby and allow dedicated time in which to do it. It’s ok to have a hobby. If I was a runner, I wouldn’t be expected to cook dinner during my jog and my blog should be no different.
I’m also going to focus more on my Mum group, The Happy Mumdays Club which I set up as a safe haven for local women. Motherhood can be tricky to navigate, overwhelming and even lonely at times. The Happy Mumdays Club is there as a support network for anyone who is struggling or wanting to make some new mates, without judgement.
I want to raise the profile, in order to reach more Mum’s and offer a wider variety of activities to include as many Mamas as possible.
When it comes to me personally, I need to learn that it’s ok to say no to things that don’t make me happy and ask for the things that do. It’s ok to not always be a ‘yes’ girl and it doesn’t make you a b*tch to say what you want.
2019 is also the year that The Bearded Manc and I start paying off some of our house renovation debt. I know it’s not fashionable to talk about debt, but I’m not sure why? Most of us have it (in some form or other) at least once in our life. Why do we pretend it doesn’t exist? It’s crazy.
In any case, we shall be chipping away at our debt and that in itself is the biggest ‘change for good’ that we are making this year. Of all the changes, this is the one that makes me happiest.
Whatever it is you want from 2019, I hope you can achieve it or find it.
Please don’t set yourself insane goals you cannot meet and go chasing ideals that are doomed to failure.
Let’s kick off the New Year with just one intention, making ourselves happy.
Happy New Year dudes!
