Time-Out Magazine

I thought we’d do something different this week. As you may have noticed this blog is a bit of a jumble of things. Diary, bad poetry, rant forum, review site and ode to my little babes. Well, this week it’s a magazine with an interview of the stars of this blog.

Bear in mind that the interviewees are age 3 and 6 so they’re answers can be somewhat garbled but I have transcribed them exactly as they were given for authenticity.

Let’s peep inside and see what life in lockdown is like for a small child.

WELCOME TO TIME-OUT MAGAZINE.

Let’s start by telling the reader your names.

Teddy: Teddy. You know that, Mummy.
Posey: Posey Violet Bunniiiiiii

HOW OLD ARE YOU:
Posey: 3 and P. *She always gives her initial whenever you ask this question.*
T: I’m just 6. I’m bigger than Posey but she’s quite tall.

WHY ARE WE IN LOCKDOWN:
Teddy: Because of the coronavirus
Posey: ‘Cos it’s the coronavirus and we can’t go to Nutty Nanny’s house because of the coronavirus and we can’t have any birthday cakes. *Posey has her priorities in order*

Note: Nutty Nanny is my Mum and the person they both say is their best friend and most favourite in the world, outside of our house.

WHAT IS THE CORONAVIRUS?
Teddy: It’s a very big virus that nobody wants *very true, kid*
Posey: It’s lockdown

WHAT IS THE THING THAT MAKES YOU SAD ABOUT LOCKDOWN?
Teddy: We can’t go to Nutty Nanny’s and people are getting poorly
Posey: When people are poorly that’s sad, Mama.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU MISS MOST AT THE MOMENT?
Posey: Nutty Nanny, I miss her so much.
Teddy: I miss Nanny a lot too. We haven’t seen her since Christmas, Mummy.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP PEOPLE RIGHT NOW?
Teddy: I can help people from getting poorly by staying safe at home.
Posey: I will help people build houses and chop the trees when they are old.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE CAN DO AS PEOPLE?
Teddy: Stay safe and don’t go to people’s houses and stay 2metres apart.
Posey: Give money to charity but keep my toys, I don’t want to give anymore to the babies outside. *The kids put a box of baby toys outside the house at the start of lockdown for people to take & she doesn’t wanna give more away*

DO YOU MISS SCHOOL?
Teddy: Yes. I miss my teacher and friends.
Posey: I do and my friends and Nutty Nanny *there’s a theme here*

HOW CAN WE MAKE OTHER PEOPLE HAPPY?
Teddy: Make rainbows and give them to people
Posey: I’m going to make some diamonds and put them on the tree tops. *At this point Posey begins to sing a made-up-on-the-spot song about gluing little diamonds onto stars*

WHO IS THE FIRST PERSON YOU WANT TO SEE WHEN LOCKDOWN IS OVER?
Teddy: Nutty Nanny and all of my friends at school
Posey: Nutty Nanny and play with all of the toys in her dolls house

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ‘MUMMY SCHOOL’?
Teddy: I like it better
Posey: I like my school cos it’s nice to see my friends but I like your school best.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BEST PART OF BEING IN LOCKDOWN?
Teddy: Peace and quiet and playing all the time. And the beach.
Posey: Playing doctors and seeing the horsey in the field. And the beach too, like Teddy.

ARE YOU HAPPY? HOW DO YOU FEEL?
Teddy: I feel great. I’m happy.
Posey: I feel sad because the coronavirus is not dying yet but I am happy at home.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO DO NOW THAT YOU CAN’T?
Teddy: Going to the fairground and seeing Nutty Nanny.
Posey: Going to the park. I want to go on the big slides. *She never goes on the big slides*

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE WORLD?
Teddy: Manchester City Centre because of places like Z-Arts. I love Z+Arts, Mummy. I like the beach too and Butlins. *Posey joins in singing…*
Posey: Butlins, Butlins, Butlins. Butlins by the sea…..

Next, they asked me some questions.

TEDDY: Mummy, what is the best thing you want to do but can’t:
ME: See our family and friends because we miss them, don’t we?

Teddy and Posey in unison: yeahhh!!!

TEDDY: How are you feeling today, Mama?
ME: A bit tired…..happy….. I wish it was sunny.

POSEY: The coronavirus died. You can’t go to the beach. You can’t go to the park. You can’t go to Nutty Nanny’s house. That’s really sad for you. Where would you go?

ME: Blimey babe, rub it in……well, I’d like to go on our holiday to Butlins but only after we’ve seen everybody that’s important to us.

Teddy & Posey in unison: Yeahhhh!!!!
